“You’re insatiable, you know that?”
notes; D: lonelyfajita and julesoh made me do this. damn them and their spooning needs. much less spooning than there is bitching and falling on the floor, though. heh. ENJOY :D
Light cracked through the window and Merlin was doing his best to ignore it.
He was warm – the duvet pulled up to his chin – and he could feel strong arms wrapped around him. Arthur had a habit of pulling Merlin close during sleep, planting a leg between his, and resting his head on top of Merlin’s. They woke up warm, close and comfortable.
Well, mostly comfortable.
Merlin’s hand had cramp from where Arthur was crushing it between his arm and Merlin’s chest. Moving it would mean waking Arthur prematurely and Merlin had learnt long ago not to do that. He settled for remaining in his position, closing his eyes and trying to ignore the tingling in his fingers. Maybe if he shifted just so-
“You could just ask,” Arthur said, huffing a laugh in his ear.
Merlin’s lips curled into a smile and he shook his head, deliberately, knowing it would irritate Arthur. He finally opened his eyes and blinked in the harsh light. “You hit me last time.”
“It wasn’t even dawn, and you were trying to get me up so you could clean,” Arthur protested.
“You give me the lists,” Merlin shot back, finally freeing his arm and wincing as it tingled with pins and needles. “I merely do my duties.”
“'I merely do my duties',” Arthur mimicked, snorting. “Spoken like a true servant, which you aren’t, obviously.”
Merlin pouted and tried to move but Arthur trapped him closer, moving his leg and tangling their ankles together.
“Mmm, leggo,” he said. When Arthur didn’t, he sighed. “You’re insatiable, you know that?”
“You also,” Merlin said, disentangling his ankles from Arthur’s, “know how to compliment a person.”
His tone dripped contempt but he could feel Arthur smile against the back of his neck. “It’s how I show affection.”
“I’d hate to see how you show anger and irritation,” Merlin said, dryly.
Arthur kissed his collarbone, shoulder and then just under his earlobe. Arthur knew how to exploit a weakness. “Never to you.”
Rolling his eyes, Merlin rolled over and buried his face in Arthur’s chest. “We’re spooning,” he mumbled, amused.
Arthur laughed. His arms were still as tight around Merlin’s body and he wondered what it would take to make him let go. “You started it.”
“Mmfrgle,” Merlin said and closed his eyes.
“Articulate.” Arthur whispered the word into his ear and kissed just below his earlobe again, nibbling a little.
“Arthur,” Merlin moaned and batted at Arthur’s face with a hand, eyes still firmly closed.
Arthur continued to annoy him by kissing and nibbling at his face until Merlin reluctantly opened his eyes again and moved into the kiss, his hand trapped between their bodies. He hummed happily into the kiss.
“You have jobs to do, you know.”
Merlin gave him a glare. “Way to ruin the mood, Sire.”
“There was a mood?” Arthur grinned at him but softened the jibe with another kiss, this time resting a hand on the back of Merlin’s neck and bringing him closer. With a lot of tongue and teeth, Arthur made Merlin’s knees weak and it was a good job he was lying down. When they pulled apart, Arthur kept his hand on the back of Merlin’s neck.
“There was a mood,” he repeated, this time not as a question.
“Mm,” Merlin agreed. He smiled and tilted his head a little. “I should get out.” He poked Arthur in the stomach. “So should you.”
Arthur just nodded, closing his eyes and stretching, finally letting go of Merlin completely.
Merlin took the opportunity to turn and straddle Arthur, legs either side of his hips. “Hi,” he said, grinning. Arthur opened his eyes and shook his head.
“Now who’s incorrigible?”
Merlin hummed and ducked down to capture Arthur’s lips in a kiss, hands sliding down his chest and under the covers still around Arthur’s waist. “So many jobs to do,” he said, punctuating each word with a kiss. “So little time.”
“Then,” Arthur said, placing his hands on Merlin’s chest and pushing, “You should do them.”
From the floor, Merlin let out a growl. “You know I hate you right?”
Arthur’s head appeared, dangling over the side. “Yes, and I love you too.”
